Laxton's Superb Apple Tree 125/175cm 10L Pot

Laxton's Superb is a wonderful late-season apple tree that's known for producing a bountiful crop of sweet, firm dessert apples. It’s a Cox-style variety with a bit of a twist, thanks to its other parent, Wyken Pippin, which adds a unique flavour.

The apples from Laxton's Superb are medium-sized and have a lovely greenish base colour, often flushed with deep carmine and occasionally streaked with purple. The skin sometimes has a touch of russeting on the red-flushed areas, giving the apples a distinctive look. Unlike the typical flattened shape of a Cox’s Orange Pippin, these apples have a more upright shape, a bit like Adams Pearmain. Inside, the flesh is a creamy white-green, dense, and fine in texture. It's firm rather than crisp, with a deliciously "appley" flavour and a hint of aniseed. The sweetness of these apples is exceptional, with complex flavours that aren’t as bold as some modern varieties, and they’re not too juicy either.

The tree blossoms early in May, marking the beginning of its fruiting season. Laxton's Superb is partially self-fertile, so it can produce some fruit on its own. However, if you have another apple tree with the same or a nearby pollination group, it’ll help boost the crop. This variety also has good resistance to canker and mildew, making it a sturdy and reliable choice for your orchard.
