The Bramley Seedling apple tree is well-known for producing the UK's favourite cooking apples. These apples are big and have a unique flat-bottomed shape, often showing a rusty-coloured, striped flush. The Bramley apple's flesh is creamy white and very acidic, with about 2.5 times more vitamin C than the average apple. This high acidity gives the Bramley its sharp flavour, which mellows over time, becoming almost like a tart dessert apple by spring.

Freshly picked Bramley apples are great for juicing, especially when mixed with sweeter varieties in a 70% Bramley to 30% sweet apple ratio, making a tasty apple juice. They’re also a popular choice for many ciders. When cooked, Bramley apples turn into a light, fluffy, syrupy purée with a tangy and fruity flavour, perfect for pies, crumbles, and tarts.
