The Hornbeam mature box head tree has cube features with long clear stems. The branches of the tree are trained onto a cubed cane framework and trimmed to shape by experts over the course of several years to give them their distinctive cubed form. Each side of the cubed head of the tree is 100cm x 100cm with the overall height of the cube being 120cm.

Hornbeam is a popular choice of species for this type of tree, with its compact branch structure, dense growth and attractive foliage, which turns copper in autumn but tends to cling to the branches over the winter giving some colour and cover in the colder months. Hornbeam is also popular as it will grow in most locations including in poor soil.
